Retail shop units can be very difficult to protect due to the high amount of glass and aluminium of modern frontages and the intricate wooden panels and thin glass in older buildings.

Floodguards barriers are made in standard heights of 615mm and 950mm. They are manufactured in standard lengths from 930mm up to a maximum of 2,765mm so they can cope with a wide range of openings.
As most flooding in the UK is less than 1 foot the advantage of the 615mm Floodguard, as demonstrated in the photograph opposite, is that customers can still visit your store to shop; as long as they are happy to wade through the flood water to get there :-)
More significantly though is the ability to protect your stock from flood damage. Even if the flood waters are going to overtop a 615mm or 950mm barrier you will have gained precious hours in which you can raise stock to a higher level, which means you will be able to get back into business that much quicker and with less financial loss.
Retail and outlet parks may benefit from the use of a Rapidam temporary barrier to protect the wider areas including (underground) car parks, warehouses, retail outlets and even local electricity generating stations that are on-site.
100 metres of Rapidam can be erected by 3 to 4 operatives in 30 to 40 minutes so wide expanses of property can be protected in quick time. If floods are forecast over a period of time the Rapidam can be afixed into position and laid flat to allow for vehicular* and pedestrian access. It can then be raised to its full height in a matter of minutes.
Rapidams are available in standard 0.5m, 1m and 1.3m heights.
* Boards should be laid over the Rapidam when it is to be driven over to avoid damage to the couplings, spread the vehicle loads and to avoid trip hazards. |
